Doncasters Hack and Makerspace

We love to make, invent, repair, learn, teach and socialise

What is a hackspace?

A hackspace, also known as a hackerspace or makerspace, is a physical location where individuals with a shared interest in technology, electronics, computer programming, crafting, and DIY (do-it-yourself) projects can gather to collaborate, work on projects, and share knowledge and resources. These spaces are typically community-oriented and provide access to various tools, equipment, and workspace that may not be readily available to individuals in their homes.

Hackspace environments often feature a wide range of equipment, such as 3D printers, laser cutters, CNC machines, soldering stations, woodworking tools, electronics components, and more. Members of a hackspace can use these tools to create prototypes, build gadgets, experiment with technology, and explore their creative interests.

Hackspace communities are known for their inclusivity and openness, welcoming people of all skill levels and backgrounds. They often host workshops, classes, and events to promote learning and collaboration among their members. Hackspace culture encourages innovation, resource-sharing, and a DIY ethos, making them vibrant hubs for tinkerers, inventors, and hobbyists.

Learning and Education

We value continuous learning and skill development, providing spaces for hands-on experimentation with technology and tools. We offer workshops, classes, and skill-sharing sessions to encourage knowledge exchange.

Community

Collaboration and community are at the heart of our values. Members often work together, share ideas, and mentor one another. Building a supportive and inclusive community is a core goal, where individuals with diverse skills and interests can come together to learn, create, and inspire one another.

Repair, Reuse, Recycle

We're all about 'repair, reuse, and recycle.' We emphasize extending the life of items through repair and repurposing, embodying sustainability and responsible consumption. Members hone skills in refurbishing, contributing to a greener approach.

Where are we at

We're just getting started and it's quite the adventure! We're on the hunt for our very own space, but you know how it goes – that takes a bit of time. In the meantime, we're meeting at some cool locations. Some of those meetings are casual meetups others a bit more organised classes. So, if you're itching to join in on the fun, go ahead and dive into our calendar for all the details. We're really looking forward to having you with us.
